The College at Byndihati (Meghalaya) is an extension of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, belonging to Don Bosco Society, a global network of educational and multi-form services to humanity, especially young people. Don BoscoSociety is born out of the educational vision of Don Bosco (1815-1888), popularly known as Friend and Teacher of the Young. In an attempt to educate the poor and disadvantaged youth of his time, he introduced a novel method of education based on the three great principles of Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. Till date his educational philosophy has been instrumental in shaping up generations of intellectually competent, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired young men and women. It is with this same vision in mind that the Salesian Society initiated to set up this educational institution at Byndihati, beginning with the first Degree Courses in 2015. This unique venture of the Don Bosco Society was amply recognized and approved by the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in its granting of the permission to open the extension centre by letter no: CDC/A-2/2014/Vol. VIII/3590 Dated 4th June 2015. The first year of service, saw the starting of degree courses in Arts and Commerce.
